Celebrity

Whether you like Disney or you don’t, you have to admit, they’ve made their mark on society in one fashion or another. As it is, this clip pretty much speaks for itself.

On another note, Disneyland closed Sunday for Miley Cyrus’ birthday extravaganza. Next year she’s having her party at Epcot. Happy birthday Miley!

I caught a clip of the News Radio episode Super Karate Monkey Death on Hula the other day. Thinking back to 1997 when I saw the episode first air, I remember thinking it was hilarious, but the reason it’s so fun is because it so deftly pokes fun at the rigid archetypes that the culture hangs on people in the business world, as well as the utter absurdity of business culture at large.

As we’ve seen in recent years: we’ve seen this depicted in Dilbert, in The Office, as well as the new Jerry Seinfeld/Bill Gates ad campaign.

Enjoy.

According to CNET, Bloomberg news outlet mistakenly published an obituary for the still very much alive Apple Inc CEO Steve Jobs. After having a bout with cancer nearly a decade ago and having appeared ill at the Worldwide Developers Conference in June 2008 the notice was most likely at the tip of some editors tongue anyway when they accidentally pushed the publish key. Still, the article made me think about how important Steve Jobs has been to several key industries in his lifetime. Everything from the original Apple computer to the writing of the NextStep operating system, to IPod and ITunes, the IPhone, IMovie and Final Cut Pro, Pixar.

The man might as well have been Alexander Grahm Bell himself for all the influence he’s had on todays culture, especially in the past few years.

Per the obituary:

He “helped make personal computers as easy to use as telephones, changed the way animated films are made, persuaded consumers to tune into digital music, and refashioned the mobile phone.”

The obituary itself made me feel a little sad, but is a good reminder how single individuals can help to shape our culture in profound ways.

Good to hear you’re still alive Steve.

I stumbled upon an article the other day about the creator or Super Mario Bros and Zelda. Apparently Nintendo has issued a gag order against him talking about his out of work activities because many of his hobbies have been turned into award winning games worth millions of dollars. It’s fun to see this kind of success come so naturally from someone.

This site is just fun. The creator might just have a little too much time on their hands, but I have to say that the results are pretty creative. Enjoy!

It seems like in the last few years the quality of SNL has started to get a little better. Sketches are running shorter, ideas are more original, and the talent is getting more charismatic as opposed to being merely characters. The show format is still too long, the musical guests are still generally pretty lame, but at least now there’s a spark again, and that’s pretty cool to see.

Check out this sketch for the Barry Gibbs Talk Show. I love the songs at the beginning and the end, and Justin Timberlake is pretty funny. Enjoy!

This is the best Will Farrell movie I’ve ever seen!

The Landlord

This is literally insane. Pretty fun to watch though.

You’ll want to watch through the end.

Though this isn’t as cool as the first trailer for Seinfelds Bee Movie, it’s still pretty fun.

I never really appreciated Seinfield’s sense of humor until I started seeing him do projects other than Seinfeld. When you’re doing a television show, it isn’t always easy to tell when the actors are being shielded from failure by the other people in the production. When something clicks, and strikes a coord in people, it often succeeds despite itself…God knows why…but it really isn’t until you see the breadth of someones work that you can really stand back and say, “Man, that was really really cool!”

Here’s to you Jerry! Keep it coming!

Take a look.

I found this clip of an awards ceremony honoring George Lucas on youtube while I was surfing the net. It’s a lot of fun. Especially if you think William Shatner singing and making an ass of himself is good entertainment.
