September 2006

So you all know about the travesty that was Muppet Treasure Island.  And most likely you know how bad Muppets From Space was….that could have been so so cool.  Anyway, if you’re listening Brian Henson, you totally have to make this movie…it would be awesome!  I know you’ve got it in you.

Just say screw the royalties and go for the gold…it’ll be glorious!

Muppet Matrix

And for the record, Muppet is not a combination of Monster and Puppet…it just sounds cool.  Realize that and move on with your lives;)

As Eric Clapton sings, so shall we live.  As he said back in the hayday of rock and roll:

If you wanna hang out you’ve got to take her out.
Cocaine.
If you wanna get down, down on the ground.
Cocaine.

She don’t lie, she don’t lie, she don’t lie;
Cocaine.

According to an article posted on Daily Mail, “anti-drug campaigners today attacked the makers of a soft drink who have called their product cocaine.”  Apparently it is three times stronger than red bull without the depressing crash at the end.  Also, quite a few people are up in arms about the name…I mean it is named after an illicit drug after all and the target market is teenagers…and while I am a big believer in peoples right to make their own decisions, marketing a soft drink named after an illicit substance seems kind of irresposible to me…kind of camel joe and big tobacco.

Anyway check out the article here

Just watch it.  You know you want to.

Beaker sings “Feelings”

I’m feeling saucy today, so for the rest of the week feel free to contribute to this thread.  The phrase starts like this…

“On the most important occasions of our lives, we often find ourselves…”

…and all you have to do is finish it.  You could write a word or a whole paragraph.  Try to keep it mostly clean though or I’ll pull the plug on you.  The first amendment doesn’t cover my webpage…only yours.  And I’m looking for creativity and originality here so don’t let me down.

The quote by the way is from a book, Quotations for All Occaisions by Catherine Frank.  I haven’t read it, but it sounds interesting.

Enjoy!

Someone posted a comment to my youtube account and they mentioned thier site www.funzac.com. Generally I don’t pay a lot of attention to solicitations, but his site was pretty cool and totally within the scope of this site, so I figured what the hell, I’ll do a review.

Basically the site is an online community set up to exchange games created in flash. The site layout is pretty straight forward, separated into genres and game titles. You won’t have any problems navigating the site, and the content is decent.

Having done a little flash development myself, it’s always fun to look around and see what other people are up to in the field…and in all honesty, some of these games are just addicting. I figure I can at least get my roomate to take a look if no one else.

Enjoy!

Don of La Mancha: the Quixotic tale of a misguided man, his frustrated sidekick, and a world full of windmills.

I created a one minute video as part of a viral web ad contest for wind energy. The title is “Don of La Mancha.” It’s pretty fun if I do say so myself…though I’d rather you check it out for yourself. If you like it, then vote for it; polls are open till the end of September, actually 9-28-2006.

For behind the scenes info, check out Don of La Mancha in Five Weeks over at Officialidea.

Yeah, I stole that line from Damon Wayans, but it’s oh so very true.

This guy is amazing.  It never even occurred to me that someone could use a wheelchair like a skateboard, but after seeing this guy I’m totally without words.  A couple of the falls are pretty painful to watch, but he really gets going toward the end.

Check it out!

How it Should have Ended is a whole site dedicated to how movies should have ended. Quite a few of these have also been added to YouTube.

Sometimes you just have to forget how powerful the super heros are otherwise it’s just to easy.

P.S. “I’m Batman”

In 1973 Pink Floyd released Dark Side of the Moon.  Considered by some to be the bands greatest album, it lives today as a classic example of modern jazz, and as one of the highest selling albums of all time.  So somewhere along the line someone decided that it would be fun to play the album while watching The Wizard of Oz.  I’d long heard the tale of the strange connection between these two pieces for years, but I’d never bothered to set it all up…now it seems that I don’t have to.  Check out The Dark Side of the Rainbow at www.sugarjar.com.

Also, read more about the album here.

A friend of mine sent a clip to me from a sketch on the Dave Chapelle show.  I laughed out loud the entire way through…not just because it’s funny, but because it’s probably word for word true.  Living in Minnesota, you hear a lot about the comings and goings of Prince…and lets face it, I’ve heard some pretty wierd things from some pretty reliable sources.

Anyway, this Charlie Murphy’s True Hollywood account of hanging out with Prince in the 80’s.

“This bores me.  Is anyone up for a game of basketball?”
