I wonder if Kevin Smith will have any real insight into the films he’s reviewing. I’m starting to get tired of the “I once worked on this film. You might have heard of it. It’s called Superman…” routine.
Smith said on his MySpace.com space Tuesday that he had been invited to substitute for the ailing Roger Ebert on the syndicated Ebert and Roeper movie-review show, where he’ll be offering his opinions of the upcoming movies Miami Vice, The Ant Bully, Talladega Nights, Barnyard, and possibly World Trade Center.

Yeah, I like Kevin Smith, but he’s kind of beating a dead horse. Maybe him and M Night should get together. Seems like they both need a new hand of cards. What made them great and innovative filmmakers is essencially gone. Time to make some changes or get out of the business.

Thats Hollywood baby!
Its funny but I hated Ebert when Siskel was alive and now he is my fav over Roper (who couldn’t pick up on the LoTR being a trilogy …).

I agree. Roper is kind of a tool. He just doesn get a lot of things. He doesn’t have the background to appreciate a lot of movies, and he doesn’t take the time or have the interest to learn.

Speaking of critics not having the background to understand, check out this post over at http://www.cartoonbrew.com .

Uh, can we drive out and beat that guy with a rubber hose? I mean, if thats the first cg movie you have seen, I suppose I would have the same reaction, but its like hes never seen a Pixar movie or one of the Disney greats. Sheesh.
